There’s no denying it — the holidays have officially arrived in Wylie! There is so much going on around town this time of year, it’s hard to put it all in one place, but that’s not stopping us! Get those calendars ready. Here’s a list of December 2025 events in Wylie, Texas, that you won’t want to miss.

The CPKC Holiday Train is Back – and it’s Bringing Live Music!

Train lovers from all over Texas and even surrounding states come to Wylie just to see the CPKC Holiday Train. And this year, the train is bringing more than just Santa Claus. It’s bringing live music from country musicians Dylan Marlowe and Emily Ann Roberts.

If you’ve never visited the Holiday Train before, start with this article that explains everything you need to know before you go. The CPKC Holiday Train rolls into Wylie on December 5th. Festivities begin around 6 PM. You’ll find the train at the CPKC Railway along N. Birmingham Street between W. Oak and Marble.

Find the Missing Elves at Elf Tracks on Ballard

Train tracks aren’t the only thing running through historic downtown Wylie! Apparently, a bunch of elves are riding in on the Holiday Train, and we need YOU to find them. Search downtown shops for the missing elves from 4 PM – 8 PM on Friday, December 5th. Participating shops are: TF Hat Co., Hope’s Gate, Witty Wicks, Fancy Plants, Shoemaker & Hardt, Ballard Boutique & Bakery, Juzt Jaz, Wylie Flower & Gift, Landon Winery, Say It With Sugar, and Sun Lounge Tanning Studio.

Hungry? December 5th is Food Truck Friday

As if the Holiday Train and a downtown elf hunt weren’t enough, Glen Echo Brewing is bringing the deliciousness with popular food truck, La TacoTrona, on December 5th. Located right across from the Holiday Train, Glen Echo Brewing is a fantastic place to watch the live music while you sip on a Wylie-brewed beer and enjoy some tacos.

BBQ for Brunch at Bold BBQ’s Holiday Brunch

Come hungry! Bold BBQ is serving up a special holiday brunch on Saturday, December 6th, from 9am – 2pm. Come back on December 6th for live Christmas music (and more BBQ!).

Learn About Kwanzaa at the Smith Public Library

Everyone is invited to learn about the history and traditions of Kwanzaa at the Smith Public Library on Saturday, December 6th, from 11am – 12:30pm. Crafts and snacks will be provided at this event, which is hosted by the Juneteenth Organization of Wylie.

Knock Out Your Holiday Shopping at the Wylie Arts Festival

The Wylie Arts Festival is well-attended by locals and people from all over North Texas. This shopping event brings over 200 vendors to downtown Wylie for an indoor and outdoor event where you’ll discover one-of-a-kind gifts you can’t find anywhere else. This family-friendly shopping extravaganza is free and located at The Cross Church Event Center.

Christmas Parade and Tree Lighting

Get into the holiday spirit at the annual Wylie Christmas Parade and Tree Lighting! The parade runs down Ballard in downtown Wylie at 6pm and is followed by the Christmas Tree Lighting in Olde City Park. The tree lighting will be kicked off with a reading of The Night Before Christmas by Mayor Porter and Christmas songs from Wylie High School’s choir.

Get a Picture with Santa at Glen Echo Brewing

Santa Claus is coming to town, and he’s stopping by Glen Echo Brewing for a family- and Fido-friendly photo experience! His sleigh will be delivering him to the brewery on December 11th at 5:30pm. This free event will also have a food truck onsite. Dragon Burger House will be serving dinner.

Get Crafty with the Kiddos at the Little Elves Workshop Walk

Bring the kids downtown for an exciting new hands-on experience for the littlest of shoppers. Participating stores will be offering free make-and-take crafts for kids. Stop by one store, or visit them all for an amazing crafting experience. The event takes place on Saturday, December 13th, from 10am until 2pm. Participating stores include: Ballard Boutique & Bakery, Fancy Plants, Hope’s Gate, Juzt Jaz, Say it with Sugar, Shoemaker & Hardt, TF Hat Co, Witty Wick, Wylie Flower & Gift.

Talk with Santa on the Radio!

We know Santa is awfully busy this time of year, but that’s okay – he’s put some time on his schedule to chat with Wylie kids on December 13th from 12 PM until 4 PM. The Smith Public Library presents Santa on the Air, a unique experience where kids can talk with Santa in real time over the airwaves.

Never line danced before? It’s time (you do, after all, live in Texas!). Head over to Glen Echo Brewing on December 13th and the 27th for a line dancing experience you won’t forget. Classes are free.
