May is event month in Wylie! The whole month if full of fun things to do for the entire family. Here’s a collection of events taking place in Wylie, Texas in May 2025.

Wylie 500 Pedal Car Race
Kids ages 2-5 select a pedal car provided by local merchants and race 500 inches down Ballard Avenue in heats of seven in historic downtown Wylie. The $15 entry fee includes a T-shirt and ribbon. Winners receive trophies in two age brackets (2-3; 4-5). Proceeds benefit area Special Olympics and historic downtown Wylie beautification. Spots are limited, so register today. This is a rain-or-shine event.

Taste of Wylie
Purchase your ticket today to sample a variety of foods from 40+ local restaurants and food trucks while supporting area food pantries. Tickets are limited; last year’s event sold out!

Mother’s Day Make & Take
Celebrate the nurturing energy of Mother’s Day with a hands-on herbal wellness workshop. You’ll learn about supportive herbs, experience a calming tea ceremony, blend your own herbal tea, and create your own bath salts to take home. Whether you’re a mama, honoring one, or simply craving self-care, this event is a beautiful way to pause, connect, and nourish. This event takes place on Friday, May 10th at 12:00 PM.

Yoga in the Park – Free Community Class
Let’s take our practice outside! Join us under the open sky at Olde City Park for a free community yoga class. This all-levels class is perfect for anyone 14 and up. Bring your own mat, a water bottle, and maybe a friend or two. Breathe deep, move freely, and ground into the beauty of nature. This class takes place in Olde City Park on May 24th at 10:00 AM.
No registration necessary, just show up!

Sacred Petals – A Cooling Summer Ritual
Slow down and create space for beauty and inner calm with this seasonal ritual of creation and self-care. We’ll work with fresh, locally grown blooms from @PaperBirdFlowerFarm to design flower mandalas as a meditative art practice. You’ll also craft a cooling Ayurvedic face mask to take home—perfect for soothing your skin and spirit during Pitta season. This ritual invites you to honor the rhythms of nature and the radiance within. This event takes place on May 25th at 1:00 PM.

Summer Kickoff
The Summer Kick-Off Party is back on Friday, May 30, from 9:00 to 11:45 a.m. This annual event is a joint effort between the Smith Public Library and the Wylie Recreation Center.
Enjoy bounce houses, inflatable slide, trains, BooCoos the Clown, food trucks, and so much more! Food is available for purchase. You’ll have the opportunity to talk to camp instructors at the Rec and get everything you need to know about summer reading at the library. This is an outdoor event, so please plan accordingly.

Bluegrass on Ballard
Bluegrass on Ballard has moved to May 31 with new times for the car show and bands! Cooler weather awaits this FREE festival featuring top bluegrass bands, a 225+ car show, 100+ arts and crafts, fair food, and children’s activities. It’s a day of fun for the whole family in historic downtown Wide Awake Wylie.
Bring your instrument and pick and jam with other musicians on the street or in shops and restaurants throughout the day. Don’t forget your lawn chairs or blanket to enjoy a summer evening with award-winning bluegrass bands in the shade of Olde City Park.
