Historical Downtown Wylie is the heart of our city. With great restaurants, fun places to shop, and family-friendly events throughout the year, it draws in locals as well as people outside of town. It’s also home to Wylie’s oldest retail shop. Owned by Pamela and Danny Wells, Wylie Flower and Gift is celebrating its 75th year in business on April 17th, 2023.
Wylie Flower & Gift is a florist and gift shop serving the city of Wylie and all the surrounding cities. Pam says, “We help people celebrate the good and bad times with flowers. From births, birthday, proms, homecoming, graduation, weddings, anniversaries, and all the holidays, we help people express their emotions.” Wylie Flower & Gift also offers plants, gifts, plushies, candies and candles.
“We take care of grieving families and make brides happy and support our community. We take pride in customer service and quality products,” says Pam.
Doing Business in Wylie
Pam was born and raised in Wylie.
“After graduating from law school I returned to the area. When my son was born with special needs, my priorities changed in life. More time was required and I knew the place my family needed to be – Wylie. We returned and bought the flower shop from my parents. We raised our son in the flower shop and on the streets of downtown Wylie like I was raised. It was the right move because I had the support of family, friends and the home town feel of the community I call home.”
When asked what she loves best about doing business in Wylie, she says, “Wylie has a small town feel despite how much it has grown. People watch out for each other and businesses support each other. Wylie Flower Shop is the oldest retail business in Wylie. We have been located in Historic Downtown for the past 75 years.”

“We take time to speak with our customers and find out what emotion they want to express and then create a gift that satisfies their need. We create arrangements that are unique for them. I have experienced designers (well over 100 years combined) and employees that know flowers and the floral business. You are greeted by our shop dog MAK when you enter. Whether you are happy or sad she provides comfort to all when you pet her. Our delivery drivers have the best job in town because they deliver smiles. We support the community by giving gift certificates to requesting organizations and sell coffee which benefits Five Loaves Food Pantry. We make each of our customers feel welcome and they are happy when they leave.”
The Future of Wylie Flower & Gift
Pam has deep roots in Wylie, so I asked about her future. She says, ” There is an abundance of potential growth for Wylie Flower Shop. It just needs to be tapped into. I’m prepared to retire and have not pursued growth opportunities, however I’m looking for the right person to take over this 60+ year old family run business. The future for Wylie Flower Shop is bright and blooming.”
