It might not feel like it, but summer is slowly sunsetting into fall. Before we know it, the kids will be back in school and it will be time to get the Halloween decorations out (too soon?). But as we roll into what is historically the hottest month in Texas, let’s not forget there is still of plenty of great things happening around town! Here is a list of August events in Wylie, Texas.
Summer Self-Care at Yoga in the Park
Start August with self care at Yoga in the Park on August 1st. Hosted by downtown yoga studio, Yogadana, in conjunction with Wylie Parks and Recreation, Yoga in the Park is a FREE outdoor yoga class at the Welcome Center at the Brown House. The event reoccurs on the first Saturday of every month from April through October, and because it’s at 10 am, you can beat the August heat!

First Day of School for Wylie ISD
Wylie ISD is back to school on Thursday, August 13th. This is a reminder to SLOW DOWN when approaching school zones and be patient as everyone gets back into a routine!
Stock Up On Back to School Lunch Supplies at the Wylie Farmers Market
The Wylie Farmers Market will be open on August 15th, which is perfect timing if you’re working on school lunches or after school snacks. The market is located in the parking lot at B&B Theatres. Peruse the rows of handmade goods and locally-grown produce, meat, and honey at this popular (and growing) event.

It’s a Book Fair at Shoemaker & Hardt!
Nothing quite says “back to school” like a book fair! Join Shoemaker & Hardt for the “Summers Last Chapter” book fair on Saturday, August 15th. Be sure to enjoy the special edition book fair latte as you’re browing the books and bookish vendors. There will even be a book mobile! This event kicks off at 12pm and lasts until 4pm.

Lunch and Learn at the America 250 Luncheon
Listen to keynote speaker, author and local historian Tracy Lawrence, when you attend the America 250 Luncheon on August 29th at 11am. Hosted by the Wylie Historical Society, attendees to this ticketed event will get to see an 18th century fashion demonstration and have a chance to win fun door prizes.
