In the heart of historic downtown Wylie sits a local favorite where you can pick up a new dress and some dessert at the same time — Ballard Boutique and Bakery. The vibrant shop is home to a clothing boutique and a bakery, but also offers locally-made gifts, homemade dog treats that are beloved by dogs all across Wylie (go get some, your dogs will thank you!), and a wide selection of 75098-themed home décor.

boutique owners sitting under a neon heart

Co-owners Teri Allen and Raquel Jarjoura first crossed paths at a vendor event. The two became fast friends and quickly discovered they shared a business vision. Combining their passions, they opened their doors in 2022 in a historic building downtown that’s loaded with character and charm. Today, Ballard Boutique & Bakery is a welcoming space where locals can grab a fresh lunch, shop for on-trend clothing, and browse gifts from other Wylie makers.

For Teri, who owns the baking business Baked Right In, the magic lies in her bakery offerings — especially her signature Strawberry White Chocolate Chip Cookies and daily lunch specials (be sure to follow her bakery’s Facebook page for her daily soups!). Raquel brings her fashion sense to the boutique side, filling racks with trend-forward pieces that make shoppers feel confident and stylish while also keeping on budget (follow Raquel’s Facebook page for flash sales and some incredible deals you’ll only find onine).

Supporting the Community

The shelves of Ballard Boutique & Bakery are stocked with goods from local artisans like Bella Blaise jewelry and seasonal wreaths by The Wreath Fairy, reflecting Teri and Raquel’s commitment to community. The pair also hosts creative classes and participates in downtown events like Taste of Wylie, Bluegrass on Ballard, and Boo on Ballard.

“We love the community and the small-town vibe,” Raquel says. For Teri, it’s the joy she sees on customers’ faces when they bite into something she baked. Together, they’ve turned Ballard Boutique & Bakery into a place that feels like home — and one that’s quickly become woven into the fabric of downtown Wylie.
